MYOSOTIS SOLANGE

Family and Genus:- See- BORAGINACEAE

Common Names:- None

Homotypic Synonyms:- None

Meaning:- Myosotis (Gr) Mouse-ear, A name used by the Greek physician and
botanist Dioscorides.
                  Solange Meaning uncertain.
               
General description:- Laxly caespitose perennial with several sterile shoots.

Stem:-
1) 5-15 cm, ascending, appressed-pubescent.

Leaves:-
1) Lower, narrowly obovate-spathulate, with straight, patent hairs 0.5-1 mm long.

Flower:-
1) Calyx, divided to at least 2/3, with straight, subappressed hairs throughout and
    patent, hooked hairs towards the base.
2) Corolla limb, 3-4 mm diam, flat, pale blue with a yellow centre.  

Fruit:-

Key features:-
1) Small perennial 5-15 cm tall.

Habitat:- Damp screes at the bases of limestone cliffs at c. 2100 m.

Distribution:- A rare local endemic, known only from a small area in the Lefka Ori.

Flowering time:- June-July.
